Brighton based store Velvet have gone from strength to strength since they opened 7 years ago and are now taking the store ‘online’ with the help of Juretic Media.

Velvet was set up in 2000 by husband and wife duo, Nick and Emma Harrop and with the help of Emma’s mum Iris Draper have expanded the gifts and accessory shop to include furniture, lighting, clothes and shoes. The shop now has a wealth of celebrity customers from actors to footballer’s wives to politicians to Big Brother Housemates and pop stars.

Velvet worked with Eighth Day Design to come up with the creative and then teamed up with Juretic Media, who are the Creative Digital Marketing Agency, also based in the heart of the city, to develop and build Velvet’s ecommerce site.

Velvet’s three stores in Brighton and Hove have a huge range of beautiful French-Chateau, Art-Deco, Retro, Shabby Chic, Kitsch and Contemporary style furniture and home furnishings. Their range is vast, from lighting and mirrors to clocks and door knobs and they just won Independent Retailer of Year 2007 in the Prestigious Brighton and Hove Business Awards.

Juretic Media have created a site that is as diverse as the stores, and that runs alongside a content management system that the Velvet team can use to easily update the site with new products.

Juretic have also set about optimising the site so that it performs well in all search engines and will be adding new features, like a ‘trends blog’ which will add content and give other reasons for potential customers to return to the site. Juretic will be working with Velvet to make sure that they get the best from their site and helping them to come up with new online marketing strategies.

The site is available at www.velvetstore.co.uk and is full of inspirational ideas and stylish solutions for the home.
