Client's brief

Click n go Mortgages were spending up to £4,000 a month on their Pay per Click Campaign, but were not entirely sure of how the campaign was working as no tracking had been integrated into the site. In addition, they were becoming more and more aware that the cost per conversion was going up but their return on investment was deteriorating.

Click n go Mortgages knew that the website was going to be the key to their success, but until they had achieved good natural search engine listing and brand recognition, a Pay per Click campaign was going to the platform for their internet marketing campaign.

Here's what we did

We integrated Google Analytics to monitor the traffic and user trends from the Pay per Click campaigns. We set up goals with Google Analytics to monitor keyword conversion rates.

We looked at the keywords that were creating the most traffic to the site, creating enquiries and those that were just costing money and had a high bounce rate. We reorganised the campaigns to make them more cost effective and removed the low performing keyword terms.

We then used our knowledge of the high performing keywords and search engine optimised the website with them.

Our results

The initially re-worked Pay per Click campaign cost half the amount of their original campaign and produced the same number of leads.

After we completed the relevant search engine optimisation work, the Pay per Click campaign was turned off completely. Click n go Mortgages now rank at the top of page 1 in Google for their main search terms such as '100% mortgage' and 'bad credit mortgage'. This is saving them thousands of pounds a month in Pay per Click bills.

In the past 18 months we have increased natural search traffic by over 600%, reduced the website bounce rate by half to just under 25% and doubled the website conversion rate.

Now the Pay per Click is only used for the introduction of new mortgage products such as Shared Ownership Mortgages before they start to rank well naturally in the natural search results.

With the savings from the Pay per Click campaigns the client commissioned us to design and develop a new site with better conversions rates and more resources for the users such as mortgages calculators, guides to different types of mortgages and news blog. The new site also incorporates a bespoke lead management CRM for their brokers which has increased the response time on leads and has dramatically improved the workflow in the office.
